Merel Philippart developed the induction cooktop with attention to its visual presence in the kitchen. Black cooktops often create contrast within the overall space. The coloured Makus cooktop was created to integrate more quietly into different kitchen settings. Particular attention was given to the pink edition, developed through research into colour and its potential influence on wellbeing. The coloured Makus cooktop was introduced in 2020, followed by a downdraft model in 2023.
