Nuru Karim is the Founder and Principal of NUDES, an award-winning design and research studio recognized for its innovative work at the intersection of art, architecture, and computational design. With over 25 years of professional experience, he has consistently leveraged advanced digital tools to engage with critical social, cultural, and environmental challenges through architecture. He earned his Master’s in Architecture and Urbanism from the Architectural Association (AA), London, in 2006. His academic foundation was shaped by education and travel across London, Mumbai—where he graduated as a Gold Medallist from KRVIA—and Montreal at McGill University. Karim’s early professional journey included a tenure at Zaha Hadid Architects, London, where he contributed to high-profile institutional projects through competition, schematic, and detailed design stages. His leadership at NUDES has brought international recognition, including national and global design awards and a nomination for the prestigious Aga Khan Award for Architecture (2013 cycle). In 2021, he was among 200 visionaries worldwide invited by the Louis Vuitton Foundation to contribute to LV200, a landmark initiative celebrating the founder’s centennial. Beyond practice, Karim is also an influential thought leader and educator. He has spoken on renowned platforms such as TEDx (2019) and continues to share his design philosophy and research across leading academic and professional forums worldwide.
